Too long without decent exercise has had my old PT practically in tears. To make matters worse, I weighed myself and promptly threw the scales into the shower and ate a biscuit.
It's got bad. But it has to get better. Right?
RIGHT!
So it begins... I need a goal. (I definitely have one. It's AUGUST) I also need some motivation other that the afore-mentioned AUGUST deadline. This motivation has come in the form of... Jack. My beloved. He looks like a twiglet (in a good way). He goes fencing once a week - and soon will be going twice a week. His enthusiasm for something he really enjoys is infectious. I want that happy me-time too. I used to LOVE running! But now I need to get fit again first. And so here we go...
Step 1: (Re)join the gym for treadmill/bike/rower work.
Step 2: Make a routine out of doing a few yoga exercises at home before bed. If I can find an actual yoga class to go to then BONUS to that!
Step 3: Make decisions about my diet.
I am obsessed with pictures of exercises and yet am rubbish at putting them into practice, which is why I had a PT in the first place. But here are some good ones I've just found that I WILL complete before bed.
Leg Raises: Leg raises are a great way to target the stomach and don't require any gym kit (i.e, you can wear your pajamas)
-Lie on your back with your hands on the floor or under your bottom.
-Keeping a slight bend in the knees and feet together, start with both feet up towards the ceiling.
-Without allowing your lower back to overarch, slowly lower your legs towards the floor without bending the knees any more than they already are.
-When legs are almost on the floor, squeeze the abs and lift them back up to the start and repeat.
Plank Workout: The plan is to do each of the 6 moves for 20 seconds. Repeat entire 2-minute circuit 3 times, taking a 30-second break in between each round.
I have a few goals in mind. One is a yoga goal, and the other a running goal. And yes, it's pretty much just about looks. I'm a girl - practically everything revolves around how I look. Even if it's just how I *think* I look. How I look in my mind.
My Run Goal 1 is to look like this when I run:
My Yoga Goal 1 is to be able to do this and hold the position:
I guess I will update you soon. Ahem. Wish me luck!
