With a little help...

Apologies in advance for another running post - last one for a week I promise!

I RAN 8KM THIS MORNING!

At 6.5km and not much time left on the clock counting down to an hours running, I waved over a PT and explained that I really wanted to get to 8km in under an hour.... but wasn't sure that I had it in me. I really wasn't sure. But I knew I WANTED IT.

So it began. She dropped her cleaning spray and cloth, and hopped on the treadmill next to me. After a quick assessment of how I was feeling on a scale of 1 being asleep and 10 being about to die, we set about upping the speed for 20 seconds, then back down for 45 seconds, then back up for 20 seconds. Each time she asked me to get back down to about a 6 on the scale before I ran hard. It really was hard. But I was elated. My hip hurt, my face was beetroot, but I knew I wanted to beat anything I'd done before. Her encouragement, help and wise words helped me to reach that goal and I ran 8km in under an hour.

I swiftly booked in for a PT training session at 6am on the 28th May. So here goes. Let the REAL training commence.

Ps, When I got home I had two emails waiting for me. Acceptance of places for my 10k and 1/2 marathon races in October. I feel like this is the best day of 2013 so far. I am beaming.
